The best ideas often show up when you’re in the middle of something else—a meeting, a document, or a browser tab. If you have to open an app, dig through folders, and then start a new note, that thought can slip away. That’s why we built Quick Note into NoteDex on Windows, Android, and Mac: so you can capture one idea per card, fast, without losing your flow.
Here’s how Quick Note works on each platform—and how it fits into your cross‑platform index card system.
Quick Note on Windows
Our new Windows app puts quick capture front and center.

Keyboard shortcut: Press CTRL + ENTER from anywhere in the app to create a new note instantly. Type your idea, hit enter, and it’s saved as a card in your current stack—no extra clicks.
Always on Top mode: Minimize the app into a small floating window that stays above your other apps. You can add a quick note and see your most recent cards without switching away from your work. Ideal when you’re writing, coding, or researching and don’t want to leave your flow.
Pop-Out Cards: Pop individual cards (or canvases) onto your desktop so you can reference them while working in other windows. Quick Note gets the idea in; Pop-Out keeps the card in view when you need it.
Together, these make Windows a strong place to capture and recall ideas without breaking focus.
Quick Note on Android
The next-generation Android app is built for quick capture on the go.

Quick Note from launch: Open the app and a Quick Note window is right there—start typing or record audio immediately. No drilling into stacks or menus first.
Home screen widget: Add the NoteDex widget to your home screen and create a new note with a single tap. No need to open the full app when you just want to capture one thought.
Share to NoteDex: While browsing in Chrome or Edge, watching YouTube, or scrolling social, use Share → NoteDex to send a link (or file) into NoteDex. If you use AI summarization, we can add a short summary to the card so the note makes sense when you come back later.
Audio and files: Record voice notes or attach PDFs and other files; optionally get transcripts or summaries so your quick captures are still organized and searchable.
Offline viewing of synced cards means you can still review what you captured even when you’re not connected.
Quick Note on Mac
Bringing next-generation Quick Note features to Mac.

Quick Note from Menu: Create a Quick Note right from the top-menu bar! Just click the NoteDex icon in the top-menu!
On Mac, NoteDex keeps the same idea: one shortcut or action, one new card. Whether you’re in the main window or using a compact mode, your quick note becomes an index card in your stack and syncs across Windows, Android, and the web so you can refine or review it anywhere.
One Idea, One Card—On Every Device
Quick Note isn’t just “fast typing.” It’s built around the way NoteDex works everywhere:
One idea per card so you can scan and find things quickly.
Same stacks and cards on Windows, Android, Mac, and web—capture on one device, organize or review on another.
No context switching when you don’t want it: shortcut on Windows, widget on Android, and the same mindset on Mac.
If you’ve tried the new Windows app or the new Android app, you’ve already seen how we’re doubling down on quick capture. Quick Note on Windows, Android, and Mac is how we help you capture, organize, and recall—one card at a time.
